Grace

Founder & Instructor

My interest in Pilates began during my ballet training in my teens; I attended classes regularly and after a few stints dancing professionally I decided to become a Pilates instructor as well. Becoming a Pilates instructor was one of the best decisions I have ever made; I was delighted to be in the business of building people’s appreciation for their bodies and encouraging their body confidence.

After getting certified in matwork and reformer with STOTT PILATES® in Boston, USA in 2003, Pilates soon become my full-time profession. I worked with a wonderful group of instructors in New Hampshire, USA where I continued learning and growing through mentorship, various workshops, and becoming a certified Movement Training Specialist.

After moving to England in 2013, I worked at several studios in the Greater Manchester region before joining an excellent team of instructors at the Pilates Reformer Studio in Warrington, Cheshire. Now, since May 2017, we call the South Hams our home, and I am delighted to be teaching in this beautiful area.

Over the years, I have worked with clients from all types of movement backgrounds from sports professionals to people with severe movement limitations. My training over the years has delved into rehab-level Pilates and functional movement patterning, and I delight in assisting people in their journey to reduce pain and recover from injuries. I continue to regularly attend workshops partly as it is required to maintain my certification, but mainly because I am endlessly fascinated by the profound effects Pilates can have on our bodies; as modern knowledge continues to expand, I continue to learn and update my teaching to bring the most effective movements and techniques to my clients.

After more than a decade of high-impact exercise addiction, my body forced me to stop. Overworking, overtraining, and pushing through pain caught up with me: burnout, a fractured neck, and a debilitating disc bulge made me redefine true health. That’s when I discovered Pilates - not just as exercise, but as a way to rebuild strength, ease pain, and restore balance in both body and mind.

What I offer comes from personal experience, not just theory. I know what it’s like to feel disconnected from your body, to push through discomfort, and to struggle to find movement that’s both challenging and sustainable. Pilates transformed me - my strength returned and, for the first time, I felt strong without strain.

After qualifying as a mat Pilates teacher, I trained in beginner, intermediate, and advanced Reformer Pilates in London under Pete Pallai, a two-time Olympian and certified Balanced Body Master Instructor. My teaching, deeply rooted in the six Pilates principles, ensures a safe yet dynamic approach to movement. I especially love delivering challenging classes - sessions with the intensity of a great gym workout, but with all the control, precision, and longevity of Pilates.

Whether you’re recovering from injury, managing a condition, or simply looking to move more efficiently, build strength, and gain confidence, I’ll meet you where you are at. I take the time to understand your body, your goals, and what movement means to you, so together, we can build strength, resilience, and a lasting connection to movement - helping you surpass what you once thought possible.

Instructor

Health, fitness and movement have always been passions of mine. I trained as a personal trainer in my early '20s and worked in the fitness industry before becoming a journalist. After a long-term health issue I wanted a career change and to again with with health and movement so decided to train as a yoga instructor.. but then I walked into a Pilates Studio and never looked back!

I completed a two-year apprenticeship and then went on to run a studio in Bristol, and furthered my education by training as a yoga teacher, sports massage therapist and health and nutrition coach. I believe having all these disciplines has greatly helped my ability to teach Pilates to a wide cross-section of people.
